The Google Ads pre-appeal checklist.

Before a Google Ads appeal, confirm that the notice, business explanation, completed corrections, and supporting records tell the same story. This checklist helps you organize the work and identify what is still missing; the account’s own instructions determine the required submission.

1. Confirm the decision and current status.

Record the affected customer ID, named policy, date, and status of each prior request. Keep the original email and the current in-account notice. If multiple products or accounts are affected, maintain a separate line for each.

Do not mark an issue resolved because a related task was completed. Verification, billing, ad approval, and account reinstatement need their own status checks.

  • Exact suspension notice saved.
  • Prior appeals and decisions preserved.
  • Pending requests and deadlines identified.
  • Separate accounts and Google products clearly distinguished.

2. Check the business explanation.

Describe what the business sells, who the customer is, who provides the product or service, and who pays for the advertising. Identify the legal and trading names and explain any legitimate differences.

Check that the explanation agrees with the website and previous submissions. If you find an inaccurate earlier answer, document the correction instead of silently replacing it.

  • Advertiser and provider roles explained.
  • Agency, affiliate, or reseller relationships recorded when relevant.
  • Important claims supported by current evidence.
  • Client has confirmed the business facts.

3. Resolve the relevant verification tasks.

Open the account’s current task list and identify which task is outstanding, who is authorized to complete it, and what records are requested. Requirements vary by account type, country, and the verification involved.

Read the requested document specifications before using another attempt. Confirm that the records relate to the correct person or organization and are suitable for that particular task.

4. Verify the corrections on the live site.

For each finding, record the affected URL or account setting, what was changed, and how it was checked. Retest the actual customer journey rather than only the page editor.

FindingCorrection record
Unclear providerUpdated page URL, explanation of the relationship, and supporting record.
Unexpected destination behaviorTechnical observation, implementation record, and retest result.
Inconsistent offer informationAffected ad or page, approved wording, and live verification.
Unclear billing arrangementAccurate payer explanation and the relevant requested evidence.

5. Review the appeal as a complete record.

Read the draft against the documents and the live account. Does each claim have support? Does the draft distinguish a correction from an assumption? Have you answered the form’s actual questions?

Keep the response concise enough to navigate while including the context necessary to understand the issue. Name attachments descriptively and explain the relevance of each. Sensitive records belong in the designated upload route, not on a public page.

  • No invented causes, credentials, corrections, or guarantees.
  • Evidence corresponds to the actual business and account.
  • One coordinated final version is ready.
  • A copy of the submitted response will be retained.

6. Assign the next action.

Choose who will monitor the result and handle additional requests. Keep a decision log so the next person can see what was sent, what changed, and what Google replied.

If a denial arrives, use the same record to identify what a further review would add. If you need help interpreting the gaps, a second-opinion review can be scoped around the existing material.

Common questions.

Is this Google’s official checklist?

No. It is RID Marketing’s preparation framework. The official sources linked on this page and the instructions in your account determine the platform’s requirements.

Should I submit every document I have?

Select relevant records and explain what each establishes. A large undifferentiated bundle can make the important evidence harder to find. Follow the specific request for required documents.

What if a necessary correction is unfinished?

Record it as open. Do not describe planned work as completed in an appeal. Establish who will finish it and how you will verify the result.
